My work as a carpenter brought me in contact with a retired
school teacher, she was very kind , a real pleasure to work for.
One day she shared how she loved her glasses, now as a carpenter
I wear glasses for protection from the sun or debris but I am
constantly annoyed by how they constantly need cleaning... but
for her they were treasured as a gift. She could remember her
first pair of glasses, how she could see things she had never
known she could see, she didn't even know that she was supposed
to be able to see across the street! When her dad found out her
need for glasses it caused him for the first time in her memory,
to cry. She was doing well in school, compensating for her
eye-sight... I know not how, so her father believed all was
well...but in time her condition was known. Her father had been
advised that she needed glasses, but because she did so well...
he didn't believe the report.. and when he found out he was
wrong, and hadn't provided the thing she needed... his father's
heart was broken.
Misconceptions can deprive us, and those we love, of so much.
Love cannot compensate for it , noble reasons will not lessen the
impact of being wrong... the consequences remain. False
perceptions of God, plant emotions that cause us to keep Him at a
distance, never tasting the fullness of what life is... and can
be... with Him fully involved in our lives. You are never truly
close to anyone without a basic understanding of what moves them.
Why are they angry?...Why do they cry?... What makes them
happy?... What is right in their eyes?...What is their capacity
to Love?... Understanding of these source emotions, show us what
others are capable of, or are not capable of. Without
understanding, any relationship we build is founded on a lie, and
becomes susceptible to the winds of circumstance. Our lives are
often thrown in crisis when the world is not as we perceived it.
Misconceptions of ourselves can hold us back... can prevent us
from changing... render us incapable of receiving the things we
so desperately want.... intimacy.... purpose... peace. In my own
life being able to understand the source of my actions, has
enabled me (by the grace of God) to overcome barriers between my
wife and I, thereby strengthening the bond between us. I have
found the presence of God to be the light I needed to see myself,
also, the power of God provided me the strength I needed to
overcome the ideas, and emotions, that were harmful to me and
those around me. Understanding is an on-going process but every
time I see, I am a little more free .
This ministry is seeking earnestly through the power of truth,
and music to bring God and His people together. It is an
encounter we need... and He desires. This
Higher Encounter changes everything.
May
you have many life changing encounters with God,
Lamon
